Weather/Climate Information Most travelers to France visit in spring (Apr–late-Jun) or summer (late-Jun–Aug). Weather varies by region but is generally temperate. In August, many shops and restaurants close as locals take their vacations. Mountain areas receive winter snow, and northern regions can be rainy throughout the year. Along the Mediterranean, winters are mild and summers are dry and hot. Travel Seasons As one of the most visited cities in the world, you can expect Paris to be perpetually full of tourists. If you want a less tourist heavy experience, travel during the low season months of January, February and March. If you’d like to visit small towns, consider a vacation from May to October. Below are some of the most popular festivals and celebrations in France.
