The Old Cathedral of Salamanca was built in the 12th century. A tour of the Church is a must when traveling to Salamanca to view the internal wall paintings, chapel, and stained glass windows. As you enter Salamanca over the old Roman Bridge that spans the River Tormes you will begin your history lesson into a classical ancient city in Spain.

The city's historic centre has important Romanesque, Gothic, Moorish, Renaissance, and Baroque monuments. The engravings on walls, statutes and traditional Spanish tiles tell the stories of this city which dates back to the Carthaginians in the 3rd Century BC. Ruled by the Moors until the 11th Century, inlaid tiles can be seen around the city.

Salamanca under lights is beautiful, romantic and classical Spain. The youthful vibe in this university town can be felt at night as students give an energetic atmosphere set against the century old buildings. Built in the early 1700s, Plaza Mayor has a Spanish Baroque architectural theme. The lights shining into the archways gives Plaza Mayor a beaming glow against the night stars. A gathering place for students, surrounded by cafes and restaurants, the old town of Salamanca has intricate arcades and streets for you to explore.
